About
Zahra Martinez is a visual artist who has a BFA in Studio Art at the University of Texas at Austin. Zahra grew up in Puerto Rico, was surrounded by the ocean, the sand, rocks, plants, and the soil itself making it one of her sources for making art, implementing these parts in my works. In this experience she uses her emotions to create her artworks. Her work explores themes of longing, grief, and self identity through Printmaking, and Papermaking. Zahra is currently working on her Book arts business on Etsy, participating in public craft shows. She currently is based in Houston, Tx. Zahra has worked as a studio apprentice for Hannah Spector (2025), and was a Risograph Fellow (2023-2025). She has also interned at Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop (2024) in New York and co curated Retracing the Rubicon at the Visual Art Center at Austin (2024). She has exhibited in group shows at ICOSA (2023, 2024) for Advanced Printmaking Class, student lead exhibitions at the University of Texas at Austin called Superstitious (2023), and Print Extravaganza (2023), and Printmaking Open Studios at Parsons School Of Design (2022).
